Last week we announced a new application, Search for Dynamics (you can read the announcement here). Search for Dynamics plugs into the Dynamics UI and brings up relevant information using the search engine inside SharePoint and SharePoint Online.

It’s that time again. It’s become a bit of a tradition to lay out predictions for the coming year at the beginning of January. For me, it’s a relatively recent tradition I started in 2015. My predictions focus around search, digital workplaces, and market dynamics involving Microsoft. This year I started by recording a podcast, […]
In my 12 years working with over 150 enterprise SharePoint customers, I have heard a few common themes as to why SharePoint intranet projects fail. And, if your employees hate your intranet, then they won’t use it, no matter how much training you provide or how many user guides you prepare. At the end of […]
Back in March I did an analysis of “the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” of SharePoint 2016 (you can see our recorded webinar on this here). This was just after the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) of SharePoint 2016. I went through it in four areas: Infrastructure, User Experience, Compliance, and Hybrid. There was a lot […]
ILTA’s SharePoint || Office 365 Symposium is being held in Baltimore this week and our own Sean Coleman will be presenting there, along with Ted Theodoropoulos of Acrowire. Recently Joanne Kiley, ILTA’s content curator, spoke with Sean and Ted about their session, “SharePoint 2016: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”. In their conversation, Sean […]
In my last blog article, I outlined how to use our connectors with Microsoft’s new Cloud SSA to get external content into a consolidated index hosted in O365. This way you can field Intranets and Portals that provide easy access to everything employees, partners or customers need.
On average, only 28% of the information that workers need resides in SharePoint or O365. The majority is spread across multiple line-of-business systems both on-premises and in the cloud. Intranets and Portals are expected to provide easy access to everything employees, partners or customers need – so what to do? Moving it all to O365 […]
The Ignite Conference last week was exhilarating. There is a torrent of new, great content, with 950 sessions including 635 full breakouts – and all of it is freely available on Channel 9 (or will be by the time you read this). I’m still working my way through the 103 sessions I marked as “must […]
It seems that hybrid is everywhere these days. As I write this, SPTechCon is happening in Austin http://www.sptechcon.com. Arpan Shah of Microsoft just did a keynote in which he emphasized successful hybrid scenarios in which people are unaware where documents or data are being stored. Hybrid was featured in sessions by my friends Christina Wheeler, […]
This is the traditional time of year for us ‘experts’ to look ahead and make predictions, as well as look back on whether last year’s predictions were on track or not. I’m new to this habit, so I can’t report on whether my crystal ball has been working or not….but no time to start like […]
Hybrid SharePoint is on the rise. Combining SharePoint Online (in Office 365) with SharePoint Server (on premises, in Azure, or in a hosted offering) is an important strategy for organizations seeking to move to the cloud and/or leverage the latest Microsoft offerings. For some workloads, such as portals and search, Hybrid SharePoint is the new […]
So, you’ve been using Office 365 and finding some level of success and now you’re thinking about how your users can get search across both environments. First off if you haven’t already started doing things like Dirsync for your users, you’re in for a treat.
