Microsoft announced general availability of SharePoint 2019 in October, 2018. There are many new features in SharePoint 2019 that make the migration to this worthwhile. CMSWire also posted an article about six newly introduced features in SharePoint 2019, as well as six features that were sunsetted.
BA Insight’s SharePoint 2019 Connector ingests data from sites, document libraries or lists from SharePoint 2019 into Elastic. Full text and metadata of documents in SharePoint 2019 is ingested securely into Elastic, enabling a single search index across content from multiple repositories. This allows organizations to tap into the wealth of information accessible within multiple versions of SharePoint, as well as other repositories, and makes that data instantly actionable to users through search.
The key capabilities of the SharePoint 2019 Connector for Elasticsearch, Elastic Cloud, and Elastic Cloud Enterprise are:
Provides both full and incremental ingestion of content into the index of your choice
Provides all management of security, role, and access list management, requiring no specialized security software or search index add-ons
Works with all types of data and, while crawling, minimizes the impact on SharePoint 2019, ensuring no degradation in its performance
Provides a single consolidated Elasticsearch index referencing SharePoint 2019 and other repositories, resulting in a single unified result set
Supports filtering of the SharePoint content, allowing administrators to define specifically which data is sent for ingestion into the search index
Brings all associated metadata into the search index to drive refinement and relevancy
Supports attachments, structured data, and unstructured data
The benefits of including SharePoint data within your Elasticsearch, Elastic Cloud, or Elastic Cloud Enterprise are:
Provides enhanced search capabilities into your existing search application while ensuring SharePoint retains the master information
Increases adoption of SharePoint via direct links back into SharePoint to any content found by a user
Indexes with a very high throughput
Has minimal impact of the source system, even helping to improve source system performance by offloading taxing search features
Requires no custom code, with full support and enhancements
