I’m delighted to be heading to Barcelona soon to be part of the fantastic gathering of the SharePoint Community in Barcelona, Spain from the 5-8th May 2014. In case you missed it, the European SharePoint Conference 2014 programme is now available and there are great sessions covering Search, Apps, Social, Cloud, Project, Migration & Upgrade, Governance and much more. I am speaking alongside renowned SharePoint experts, as well as sharing the stage with some of Microsoft’s product team from Redmond.
Since quality metadata is the key to so many things, such as successful search projects, ECM, governance and workflow, I am on a bit of a tear about helping people understand that they can create metadata by machine- and showing them how to apply it. SharePoint’s MMS (aka term store) is a great facility, but people rarely populate it because it’s overwhelming to do it manually. That’s what led me to prepare a session on “Making the Most of Your Content: Combining ECM and Enterprise Search”, aimed at IT Business Decisions Makers and End Users.
In this session, I will share best practices with search and enterprise content management in SharePoint 2013. You will learn how to find content across the enterprise from multiple data silos, and I will discuss how to optimize findability in different scenarios, including discovery and hold. I will also be discussing how you can improve tagging and determine content migration priorities, machine-created metadata, and much more. If you are planning a complex ECM initiative (or are already in the midst of one), then this is a session you cannot miss. An understanding of content management, MMS, content types and the content organizer in SharePoint 2013 is required.
The European SharePoint Conference will be run over four days and will feature over 100 informative SharePoint sessions and 6 pre-conference tutorials providing you with a fantastic opportunity for learning and building your SharePoint skills.
