BA Insight Brings External Content Into O365

Adds 50+ connectors, content enrichment to Online Search, Delve, and DLP

Boston, MA – July 27, 2015 – BA Insight announces availability of our Connectors for Hybrid SharePoint. This out of the box software works in conjunction with Microsoft’s new Cloud Search Service Application (Cloud SSA) to bring content into a unified search index running in Office 365. For the first time, organizations can use an online search facility, run by Microsoft, to provide a unified view across all content enterprise-wide.

All of BA Insight’s connectors can now feed into Office 365, integrating over 50 systems including EMC Documentum, OpenText LiveLink, IBM FileNet, Box, Jive, Salesforce.com, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, IBM Connections, and many more.

This content feeds several key parts of Office 365:

  • Search, including search centers and all applications built on search in O365
  • The Office Graph, making external content visible through Office Delve experiences.
  • O365 Data Loss Prevention (DLP), which scans content and ties to the Compliance Center within O365.

The new Cloud Search Service Application is an important first step in our hybrid cloud vision and strategy for SharePoint. With BA Insight’s products, Office 365 customers can now take advantage of our cloud experiences for all of their content,” said Bill Baer, Microsoft’s Senior Technical Product Manager for SharePoint. “BA Insight has worked closely with Microsoft for years, and we’re thrilled to see them release great products in lockstep with our new hybrid search.  In addition, BA Insight’s investments also enrich and add more value to this new offering by adding CEWS and entity extraction to their product – which aren’t supported with the Cloud SSA.”

“Hybrid is the new reality for SharePoint. Our proven connectors give customers a way to add all their important content to Office 365, and use hybrid as an on-ramp to the cloud” said Jeff Fried, CTO of BA Insight. “We’re seeing a lot of interest from organizations of all types. They can use the Cloud SSA to reduce the footprint and administrative effort of search, and still get to content from many different places. Enterprise customers have told us this is what they needed to start seriously using O365, and that it will populate Delve to make it truly useful.”
