BA Insight Bridges the Gap Between Enterprise Search and Enterprise Action with Rapid Document Assembly for Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and FAST Search Server for SharePoint
New Longitude features including search-driven document assembly, instant preview of SharePoint List and Library contents and automated OCR processing of image-based files, help make finding and acting upon enterprise information more efficient
New York, NY – February 8, 2011 – BA Insight, a leading integrated search software company specializing in Microsoft-based information access technology, today announced the release of Longitude V4.1 for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, and FAST Search Server for SharePoint. With the latest release of BA Insight's flagship Longitude product, organizations can now take full advantage of the power of Microsoft's enterprise search technologies by providing users with integrated tools to find, and act upon, information more efficiently. Leveraging Longitude's new document assembly and delivery feature, knowledge workers can now swiftly build composite documents directly from contents surfaced during a search. Using Longitude's new instant OCR processing feature, users can perform searches against PDF and TIFF documents with the same precision as possible with text-based documents. Taking advantage of Longitude's ability to instantly preview – in their entirety – documents and items residing in SharePoint Libraries and Lists, users can find desired content quickly and without burdening network or bandwidth resources.
"At BA Insight, our goal is to build tools that let organizations take full advantage of Microsoft's best-of-breed enterprise search technologies, and make it easier for knowledge workers to find and act upon the information they need," said Guy Mounier, CEO of BA Insight. "The new features in Longitude v4.1 do just that – by making image-based files subject to search, enabling the swift creation of composite documents directly from search results, and delivering instant preview capabilities to SharePoint List and Library content. Organizations have been demanding these types of time-saving tools, and we are proud to deliver them in Longitude v4.1"
New Longitude Features Make Finding and Acting Upon Enterprise Information More Efficient
BA Insight's Longitude products have been designed to optimize the enterprise search experience and empower users to act upon search results more effectively. Fully integrated into the user interfaces of Microsoft's enterprise search platforms, Longitude v4.1 delivers innovations that can reshape how users search across the enterprise for information, people, and expertise.
- Rapid Document Assembly and Delivery – Provides the ability for end-users to quickly compile information from disparate sources as a direct result of their search activity. Users can aggregate parts and pages from multiple documents – such as individual pages within PDF files, email attachments, and SharePoint List items – directly from Longitude's document preview interface. Once aggregated, this information can be transformed into any number of formats, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and zip files. Organizations utilizing Longitude's Document Assembly feature can expect to cut in half the time devoted to creating new documents from existing content.
- Instant OCR of Documents – Optical Character Recognition (OCR) analysis on all PDF and TIFF documents at the time of indexing empowers users to assess the relevancy of these documents during the search process without the burden of manual review. Longitude's dynamic hit-highlighting and graphical hit-mapping features are available to both text-based files and image-based files.
- Instant Preview for SharePoint Lists and Libraries – Instantly preview any item within a List or Library, with the ability to leverage the same document assembly and delivery capabilities available to other search results within the Longitude preview interface. This feature, coupled with Longitude's instant search inside functionality, lets users more efficiently find relevant information within a List or Library, and both aggregate and deliver this information quickly, while drastically reducing the network and bandwidth traffic associated with traditional List and Library review.
"IDC has been surveying information workers worldwide since 2001 to find out how much time they spend on a variety of information tasks. Our studies show that assembling information and creating documents consistently ranks second only to email," said Sue Feldman, Vice President Search and Discovery Technologies, IDC. "Searching and analyzing information ranked third on the list, making these tasks relatively straightforward candidates for better automation. BA Insight 's new Document Assembly technology is designed to wring the inefficiency out of these tasks."
Longitude – Extending the Power of Microsoft Enterprise Search Across the Organization
The enhancements that Longitude brings to the Microsoft enterprise search stack are not limited only to content stored within Microsoft-based repositories. Using one or more of Longitude's over thirty connectors, organizations can extend the search capabilities of SharePoint 2007, SharePoint 2010, or FAST Search Server for SharePoint to the industry's most popular Content Management Systems and databases, including EMC Documentum, Oracle Stellent, SAP, OpenText, IBM FileNet, Autonomy Worksite, West KM, and dozens more.
Because Longitude Connectors honor the security architectures of all 'connected' systems, organizations can unify enterprise-wide search in a fully secure manner, providing users access to only the information for which they have appropriate permissions. When coupled with Longitude's many features to optimize the enterprise search experience – including instant preview and document assembly & delivery – Longitude Connectors empower organizations to implement a fully integrated, user-friendly, and highly efficient enterprise search architecture.
