Version 1.6?
May 24, 2006 |
Yep.
It’s been a while since version 1.4. A lot of that time has been spent gathering feedback from practitioners and fleshing out the contents of the various chapters. Almost every chapter has a lot more material now (most have almost complete first drafts).
Obviously this is not the place to make an announcement of the release date–that’s going to come through the IIBA–but I can tell you that it will be released to members of the IIBA very soon.
We’re still going to have a lot of work to do. Job 1 is going to be for the BoK Committee to do a complete review of the high-level structure (with the assistance of many noted experts) and make sure that we still have a consistent superstructure for the tasks and techniques described in the Body of Knowledge, and that those are the correct ones for a business analysis professional.
Right now, that completed version of the Body of Knowledge is the goal for version 2.0. The next step will be to go through a full-scale practitioner and expert review of the detailed content and incorporate that review into a revised edition to be released in 2007. When that’s done, I expect the BoK to move from being in development mode to being in maintenance mode, at least, until it’s time for a new edition.
Right now, of course, this is my thoughts and not necessarily the plan of the IIBA. After the AGM is over, I’m hoping to have a chance to discuss all of this with the Executive after which we’ll be in a position to come out with something more official.
