OpenOffice 2.0 Released
October 21, 2005 |
OpenOffice.org 2.0 was released yesterday.
For home users, there’s no question that OOo is a viable MS Office replacement. The UI isn’t quite as shiny as Office 2003, perhaps, but overall it does what most people need and more. I’d probably use it as my primary office suite except for minor incompatibilities with Word.
For businesses–well, I could see a lot of small businesses being able to use it as an Office replacement. It’s the larger companies that really can’t afford the transition. More next week, perhaps–this weekend is going to be very hectic.
